«Come Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your well-beloved Spouse!» (Marian Movement of Priests)
After having witnessed and lived with the Mother forty days of awe and joy before the supernatural reality of the Risen Lord (cf. Acts 1:3), the Apostles witnessed the great event of the Ascension (Mk 16:19-20; 1 Acts 1:6-11).
After Jesus Ascended heavenwards —again, with the Mother— the Apostles and other holy women and disciples (cf. Acts 1:12-14) joyfully and diligently devoted to prepare themselves in prayer and praise, during the next nine days (the first novena), for the coming of the Promise of the Father! (cf. 1 Acts 1:4-5)
Let us now then prepare ourselves as well —with the Mother— for that great outpouring of the Holy Ghost at our own upcoming Pentecost.
She who already had the fullness of grace since conception (cf. Lk 1:28)… she who in her heart was already anticipating the Promise of the Paraclete predicted by her Son (cf. 1 Acts 1:4b-5)… she who already experienced the fullness of mystical communion with the person of the Holy Ghost… she, like back then, will now help us, the new disciples, to prepare best for our celebration of Pentecost!
Let us then, humbly and confidently, plea:
«Come Holy Spirit, come by means of the powerful intercession of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Your well-beloved Spouse!» (Marian Movement of Priests)
Holy Ghost, You infuse in us an abundance of gifts (cf. Isa 11:1-2) to perfect our virtues and produce in us the fullness of the character of Christ (cf. Eph 4:13). You give us a plethora of charisms to serve with Your own Love and for the edification and sanctification of the Church (cf. 1 Cor 12:7). You effectuate within our souls the perfections of your precious fruits (cf. Gal 5:22-23) and the evangelical life of the beatitudes (Mt 5:3-10).
You Yourself are the Gift of the Father promised by Jesus our Risen Lord! (Lk 24:49)
We, as the Mystical Body, ask of You today for an increase in us of the infused gift of wisdom (cf. Isa 11:1), that we may individually attain the perfection of the theological virtue of charity and be able: to judge correctly concerning the things of God and divine matters, to judge all things from a supernatural viewpoint, and to prefer God and the things of God to all else (cf. CCC 1831).
We also ask you today for a deeper activation of the charism of wisdom (cf. 1 Cor 12:8) within your Church, so that through it You may provide guidance for your children by the supernatural insight You bestow upon those who bear that charismatic gift.
We also confidently plea that You may form within our souls, as one of the first fruits of eternal glory, your splendid perfection of charity (cf. Gal 5:22). May it be the indelible sign and testimony of your supernatural life living within our souls for the good of our broken world in dire need of You and your Love.
Finally, we ask of You, Holy Spirit, that You may effectuate in us the evangelical life of the first beatitude «Blessed are the poor in spirit» (cf. Mt 5:3). So that already living now in the perfection of the evangelical poverty of spirit, like our Blessed Mother's own poverty of spirit while she lived on Earth, we may attain, with her, its lofty promise: «for theirs is the kingdom of heaven» (cf. Mt 5:3). Amen.

We, as the Mystical Body, ask of You today for an increase in us of the infused gift of understanding (cf. Isa 11:1), that we may individually possess an intimate, penetrating insight into the very heart of things —both of natural realities and of supernatural mysteries— and thus, aided by your supernatural Light, be able to understand those things above our natural reason and so to speak «see God».
We also ask you today for a deeper activation of the charism of knowledge (cf. 1 Cor 12:8) within your Church, so that through it You may disclose and uncover necessary facts to your children by the supernatural revelation You bestow upon those who bear that charismatic gift.
We also confidently plea that You may form within our souls, as one of the first fruits of eternal glory, your splendid perfection of joy (cf. Gal 5:22). May it manifest the habitual solace and cheerfulness your supernatural life produces within our souls, even in the midst of adversity, and thus attract to the joy of the Gospel our broken world in dire need of You and your Love.
Finally, we ask of You, Holy Spirit, that You may effectuate in us the evangelical life of the second beatitude «Blessed are those who mourn» (cf. Mt 5:4), so that mourning here on Earth rightfully and for the things that ought to be mourned, like our Blessed Mother's own mourning over the passion of her Son, we may attain, with her, its lofty promise: «for they shall be comforted» (cf. Mt 5:3). Amen.
Conclude the novena with the Sequence of Pentecost below.
Sequence of Pentecost
Come, Holy Spirit, come!
And from your celestial home
Shed a ray of light divine!
Come, Father of the poor!
Come, source of all our store!
Come, within our bosoms shine.
You, of comforters the best;
You, the soul’s most welcome guest;
Sweet refreshment here below;
In our labor, rest most sweet;
Grateful coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
O most blessed Light divine,
May that light within us shine
And our inmost being fill!
Where you are not, we have naught,
Nothing good in deed or thought,
Nothing free from taint and ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour your dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away:
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.
On the faithful, who adore
And confess you, evermore
In your sevenfold gift descend;
Give them virtue’s sure reward;
Give them your salvation, Lord;
Give them joys that never end.
Amen. Alleluia.
